Sauvignon Blanc Large

Sauvignon Blanc Large About this product

The Sauvignon Blanc taste is very different from other white wines because of its green and herbaceous flavours.

The name Sauvignon Blanc literally means “Wild White” and depending on how ripe the grapes are when the wine is made, the flavour will range from zesty lime to flowery peach.

MARIGNY-NEUF 2015 SAUVIGNON, VAL DE LOIRE

The best seller from the Ampelidae domain and one of our perennial favourites, this Sauvignon Blanc represents excellent value for money, is an organic wine, beautifully made by a Professor from the Enology School in Bordeaux and comes with a screw-cap. What more could you want from a wine that is fresh, juicy and fruity with aromas of citrus, box tree and mouthwatering flavours of passion fruit and grapefruit? Great with oysters, sushi, gravlax salmon and asparagus.

DOMAINE THOMAS 2015 LE PIERRIER, SANCERRE

A well-known domain which has beautiful Sauvignon vineyards planted on limestone slopes. The wine is balanced and fresh with floral and herbaceous notes. The palate is flavoured with orchard fruit flavours and has a nice streak of minerality. Very elegant, long and fresh on the finish. Drink well-chilled with shellfish and grilled fish dishes.

Château Couhins 2014, Pessac-Léognan Graves Cru Classé

A blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sauvignon Gris, everything about the winemaking here is to preserve the beautiful fruit and citrus aromas without any bitterness. Skin maceration was used to lower the high malic acidity this year and only 20% of new oak was used for ageing along with 60% stainless steel and 20% large wooden vats. A lovely wine with great persistence and purity.

Château Les Charmes Godard 2015, Francs, Côtes de Bordeaux

This unusual white wine from the Côtes de Francs region is made by Nicolas Thienpont and could double for a Pessac Léognan. It has lovely complex flavours of wild hedgerows, orchard fruits and white pepper. Fermented and aged in 500-litre barrels and left on the lees for six months, this is a very pretty, rich wine with a predominance of Semillon (50%) well offset by Sauvignon Blanc (25%) and Sauvignon Gris (25%).

Château Pellebouc 2015, Entre-Deux-Mers

Owned by Baudouin Thienpont, the brother of Jacques, this beautiful estate in the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux produces wines that are fresh, attractive and easy to drink. The white wine has a pretty colour of pale straw and an expressive nose of citrus and freshly mown grass. On the palate, it is lively and light with good acidity and a nice, long, dry finish. Enjoy this wine young with light lunches, salads or seafood.

Domaine de Chevalier 2012, Pessac-Léognan Graves Cru Classé

One of the great names in Bordeaux Blanc, this wine is always beautifully fresh and very long-ageing. This 2012 is energetic and expressive with notes of grapefruit, mango and zesty orange fruit. A lovely structure; round and creamy, but not too soft, with honey and lemon flavours on the palate. One of the most successful wines of the vintage and a 'must-have' for white wine lovers.
