Firstly it gives a wonderfull natural vanilla aroma to this already excellent Rum.
Secondly, the longer the bottle stays in your collection, the more the vanilla pod has a chance to infuse the Rum and add to the sweet flavour profile.
Thirdly, as you drink more and more of the Rum, the amount of oxygen inside the bottle changes and starts to slowly oxidize the vanilla pod, adding even more interesting and complex flavours.
